Principal's Message
August 6, 2024
Hello Burbank Bulldogs!
I am beyond excited to be Burbank Elementary’s new principal. It is such an honor to join a team of phenomenal teachers, excellent educators, stellar students, and a wonderful community. Even walking through campus for the first time, I could feel the positive buzz and strong school culture–and that was without students and teachers! My goal is to be a support for teachers, students, and you. We will all strive and work together to meet students where they are at and help them progress academically, socially, and emotionally. We will also continue to provide our students with an arts-based academic program that reflects America’s cultural richness with our Visual, Performing, and Folk Arts program.
This is my 20th year in education. I always knew I wanted to be an educator, and declared so when I was in 3rd grade. I have always loved school, and my mom had been a teacher in Ensenada. I earned my Bachelor's degree, Honors program certificate, and teaching credentials from Cal State University, Long Beach. I received my Master’s degree in Educational Technology and Administrative Credential from National University. Before my move to administration, I taught 4th grade for five years and 7th and 8th grade for five years. As a life-long learner, I recently earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Cal State University, Fullerton. The program has a focus on JEIE–Just Equitable and Inclusive Education.
I previously served as a Middle School Assistant Principal for three years and an Elementary Principal for six years in the Ocean View School District. I have lived in nearby Huntington Beach my entire life and currently reside there with my fur baby, Arthur. As everyone will soon discover, I am a huge Star Wars fan and hope for all students that the force is with them through these elementary school years.
I strive for all students to feel safe, respected, and celebrated. I value connections and relationships and I’m excited to meet and get to know Burbank’s students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners. I want to thank you for staying connected, informed, and involved.
We can’t wait to see our Bulldogs on the first day of school, Monday, August 12th.
See you soon,
Dr. Haag, Principal
