Principal's Message

Hello Burbank Bulldogs!

I am beyond excited to begin my second year as Burbank Elementary’s principal. It is such an honor to work with a team of phenomenal teachers, excellent educators, stellar students, and a wonderful community. My continued goal is to be a support for teachers, students, and you. We will all strive and work together to meet students where they are and help them progress academically, socially, and emotionally. We will also continue to provide our students with an arts-based academic program that reflects America’s cultural richness with our Visual, Performing, and Folk Arts program.

This is my 21st year in education. I always knew I wanted to be an educator, and declared so when I was in 3rd grade. I have always loved school, and my mom had been a teacher in Ensenada. I earned my Bachelor's degree, Honors program certificate, and teaching credentials from Cal State University, Long Beach. I received my Master’s degree in Educational Technology and Administrative Credential from National University. Before my move to administration, I taught 4th grade for five years and 7th and 8th grade for five years. I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Cal State University, Fullerton. The program has a focus on JEIE–Just Equitable and Inclusive Education. I previously served as a Middle School Assistant Principal for three years and an Elementary Principal for six years in the Ocean View School District.

I have lived in nearby Huntington Beach my entire life and currently reside there with my fur baby, Arthur. I am a huge Star Wars fan and hope for all students that the force is with them through these elementary school years.

We have a strong college focus and every classroom has adopted a college--you can see them all on the grade level pages as each teacher's image. I proudly represent our awesome local option for our students, Cerritos College. At Burbank, we believe that every student has the right to be educated in a way that prepares them for college. We exhibit a culture of universal achievement by believing in our Bulldogs.

I strive for all students to feel safe, respected, and celebrated. I want to thank you for staying connected, informed, and involved.

Go Bulldogs,

Dr. Haag, Principal
